Greg BodziochExecutive Director

Greg Bodzioch is the Director of the Exceptional Children’s Soccer Program (E-Soccer). Greg has 35 years of soccer experience. He grew up playing as a youth in the North Texas Select Soccer Association (NTSSA) in Dallas, Texas. In his freshman through senior years of high school, he played for the North Texas State Select Team. As an undergraduate at UCLA (’85-’89), he played in the Los Angeles Western Alliance semi-pro league and the LA Budweiser semi-pro league. Greg spent his junior year (’87-’88) playing at University of Madrid and studying in the Education Abroad Program. Graduating from UCLA in 1989, Greg moved back to Texas, and played for the Dallas Rockets of the Southern United States Interregional Soccer League (USISL). In 1990, Greg was awarded a scholarship to the Industrial/Organizational Psychology Doctoral Program at the University of Maryland. Upon completing his Masters in I/O Psychology at Maryland, Greg moved to the San Francisco Bay Area in 1993 to begin his career.

In 2000, Greg and close friend Russ Ewell, founder of E-Soccer, started a grassroots neighborhood program where typical and special needs kids learned soccer and participated alongside each other. From these humble beginnings with just a handful of kids at a local park in Foster City, CA, the E-Soccer program has now grown to over 500 kids participating in multiple programs around the Bay Area and internationally.

 

Gerry IroagaHead Coaching Coordinator

Gerry played in the Canadian National Soccer League from 1992-1995, the USISL on the Dallas Toros from 1996-1998, and the MISL on the Sidekicks from 1999-2001. A Personal Skills Conditioning Coach now for 15 years, Gerry is an NSCAA Advanced Regional Coach and USATF Level 1 Coach. Gerry also holds a Masters degree from the University of Toronto and a Doctorate from Stanford University. Gerry’s playing and coaching experience has proven an invaluable asset to our coaches’ personal development and program curriculum.

 

 

Phil JohnsonYouth Coaches Development Coordinator

Phil Johnson has been a coach in E-Soccer since 2001. He spent 5 years coaching kids ages 6-13 at the Seattle Soccer Academy, a year as Assistant Varsity Soccer Coach at Carlmont High School, and is currently the Assistant Varsity Soccer Coach at California High School in San Ramon. As a high school player, Phil was part of the Olympic Development Program for Washington State, travelled to Denmark and England to play, and was offered professional contracts in Germany. In college, Phil played at Santa Clara University from 2000-2002.

 

 

Jynette OjiInclusion Specialist

Jynette Oji graduated from CSU, Fresno with a BS degree in Child Development. At Fresno State she was a Track & Field Collegiate Athlete, where she still holds a record as the 4th all-time best 400 meter runner. After graduating, she became the Assistant Track and Field Sprint Coach. A year later, she moved to the Bay Area to begin working at the Hope Technology School where she currently teaches Kindergarten. As a teacher at the Hope Technology School, she has experience with children on the Autism spectrum, ADD, ADHD, Dyslexia, Down Syndrome, and other disabilities. Although she ran track, her true love has always been soccer. She was part of her varsity soccer team in high school, but decided pursue track over soccer in college because of scholarship opportunities. She has been coaching at E-Soccer since 2004. She was also an integral part of the team that launched international E-Soccer programs in Bangalore, India and Nairobi, Kenya. Most recently she helped launch the Southern Nevada program in Las Vegas.

 

Kristi KingInclusion Specialist

Kristi King joined E-Soccer in 2005. She was an essential member of teams that launched new E-Soccer programs in Bangalore, India and Las Vegas, Nevada. Kristi received her BA in Molecular Cellular and Developmental Biology at the University of Colorado – Boulder. She then progressed to the University of San Francisco to attain her MBA with an emphasis in entrepreneurship, pursuing a business plan to develop a more inclusive independent living option for young special need adults. For eight years Kristi worked as a researcher at Theravance (a biopharmaceutical company that focuses on the innovation of medicines for a variety of therapeutic areas). Currently Kristi works as an analyst at C1 Consulting. Her ongoing commitment and              contribution to E-Soccer has been incredible.

 

Josh WegerResearch & Development

Josh Weger started at Sunnyvale E-Soccer in 2003. Josh received his BS in Kinesiology with a Minor in Special Education at San Jose State University. He’s had experience coaching and training kids who have Down Syndrome and Autism and continues to pursue the cutting edge on fitness research revolving around Down Syndrome, Autism, and sensory integration disorders. Josh is now in pursuit of his Masters in Physical Therapy to enhance his ability to influence the lives of people with special needs of all ages.
